Foundation for basic research in biomedicine
The Boehringer
Ingelheim Fonds (B.I.F.) was established by C. H.
Boehringer Sohn AG & Co. KG and Boehringer Ingelheim International in 1983. As a
public foundation subject to German civil law, it is an independent,
non-profit-making institution. Its purpose is the exclusive and
direct promotion of basic research in biomedicine.
Programmes and application
- awarding long-term scholarships to outstanding Ph.D.
students
- granting travel allowances to Ph.D. students and post-doctoral
scientists for short-term practical stints or scientific
courses, e.g. summer or winter schools.
- funding and organising the International
Titisee Conferences (ITC) for established scientists twice a
year. This is an international forum intended to bring together
distinguished and up and coming scientists from highly topical
areas of biomedical research, to initiate and stimulate
discussion and scientific collaboration.
Eligible for their long-term scholarships and for their travel
allowances are:
- Europeans working in Europe and overseas
- students from overseas when working in Europe.
